What data we collect

• Account data: email address and password (stored encrypted, never in plain text).
• Seller profile data: name or business name, phone number, WhatsApp number, and, for dealerships, tax ID (RUC) and address.
• Listing data: vehicle information, photos, and video you upload when publishing a listing.
• Contact clicks: when you click WhatsApp, call, Instagram, or Facebook from a listing or a seller profile, so the seller can measure the interest their listings generate.
• Dealer reviews: the rating, text, and name you provide when writing one.
• Approximate location: the city you pick in the search bar travels in the address of the results page and nowhere else. We do not keep it in a cookie or on your account, and we do not read your device's location. Distances are measured to the centre of the vehicle's city, never to an exact address.

What we use it for

We use your data to display and search vehicle listings, enable direct contact with sellers, measure how many contacts each listing generates, moderate published content, and prevent fraud or abuse of the platform.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data to third parties. We share with the seller the information needed for them to contact you or understand your review (for example, the name you provided when writing a review). We use external providers to run the platform — hosting on DigitalOcean, image and video storage, and transactional email through Resend — which act solely as data processors, under our instructions.

Cookies and sessions

We use a cookie to keep you signed in; it is not an advertising tracking cookie and we do not share it with ad networks.

We also use a second, technical cookie with no personal data to count how many times each listing was viewed without double-counting the same visit. It lasts up to 2 years and is never shared with anyone.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account is active. Contact records (clicks to WhatsApp, call, Instagram, or Facebook) are kept so the seller can see historical statistics and to support the review system.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your data, or to close your account, by writing to the contact address on this page.

Minors

MotorSur is not directed at minors. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Security

Passwords are stored encrypted with bcrypt, the connection to the site is always HTTPS, and photos and videos are stored with an external provider, never on the same server that runs the platform.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform changes. The date of the last update appears at the top of this page.
